Another weekend too short
And it's not that I haven't gotten some stuff done today--I have, just not as much as I would have liked to accomplish. But that's how it always seems to be. I wonder what it would feel like to "catch up" on the various projects and obligations. We may never know....

You know, when I go grocery shopping I generally try to keep an eye on items as the cashier rings them up just to make sure the prices aren't too far out of line with what I'm expecting, especially on items supposed to be on sale. If I miss something and discover after paying that I was overcharged for something, I generally just go on. Yeah, maybe I got "cheated" out of a quarter, but it's not worth the time and hassle to complain.

But today I checked my receipt before heading out of the store, and I discovered that I'd been charged $15 for a 24-pack of toilet paper (yes, that's a lot of toilet paper) marked $10 on the shelf. $5 is enough for me to say, hey, wait a minute.... The manager happened to be out front and I told him what had happened, and he walked with me back to the shelf where I had gotten the TP. Apparently the reduced price was leftover from a previous sale because he pulled the tag off the shelf, but he honored the price that was there and I got my $5 back. That was kind of a nice surprise--I'd figured I'd probably just have to ask for a refund and give the TP back.

This was of course at the end of a shopping trip that took three times as long as it should have. They're rearranging the store, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for stuff to end up where it has. You'd think IBC root beer would be on the same aisle as A&W root beer (and all the other soft drinks and beverages), but no...it's two or three aisles away. Grrrr.

We got a bit of rain today which made it muggy by the time I got out for a walk this afternoon. But the temperatures were cool enough that it wasn't uncomfortable. Looks like it's supposed to be chilly this week, though--highs only in the 50's with lows predictably cooler than that.

It already works like it's supposed to
So why not just leave it alone? God knew what He was doing when He designed the creation; let it be.

Oh, and I had some time at work today to download a couple of the major-minor browsers, I guess you could call them. Grabbed the beta version of Safari for Windows along with Opera. For what it's worth, Opera's user agreement requires you to agree to the following:

"YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE SOFTWARE IS NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN (I) ON-LINE CONTROL OF AIRCRAFT, AIR TRAFFIC, AIRCRAFT NAVIGATION OR AIRCRAFT COMMUNICATIONS; OR (II) IN THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, OPERATION OR MAINTENANCE OF ANY NUCLEAR FACILITY."

There goes my plan to build an Opera-operated nuclear power plant in my attic. I'm just kidding, of course, but I did find it puzzling that those two things would be singled out like they are.

How about that
I had no idea Edmund Hillary was even still alive, and now he's dead. Amazing, just one of those larger than life figures.

Hard to believe it's almost the weekend already. At least I do feel like I've been a little bit productive this week, getting the refrigerator cleaned out and some e-mail answered. Need to do a lot more than that, but at least it's a start.

First Entry of 2008
What can I say, I just finished a two-part cleaning out of the refrigerator and quite frankly I don't feel particularly creative. So that's all the title you get tonight.

At any rate, the inside of the fridge looks much better now. Have also had some time this week to chip away at the bottomless pile of stamps. Not sure exactly how much good that will do, but I've been able to add a few items to my albums and to my Web site, both in the gallery and the trading post. And I picked up another "subscriber" to my album update notifications this week along with a brief but appreciated "thank you" note from the individual expressing gratitude for the pages. So that's cool.

Maybe it's just my imagination, but it seems like there has been an unusual amount of air traffic over the area this evening, I presume related to the naval base across the river. I don't know that they're necessarily flying any lower than usual, but I've noticed the noise a lot more than I usually do. That makes me think there are either more planes flying overhead or they're making more of a racket. But anyway.

It's fast approaching my bedtime. Goodnight all.
